Loan Round-up: Unbeaten Weekend

By Kieran Cleeves • 20 August 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeepers Christian Walton and Robert Sanchez were both denied three points late on in their respective games in the English Football League over the weekend.

Walton played 90 minutes for Wigan Athletic against Nottingham Forest at the DW Stadium, and the 22-year-old’s loan club took a 2-1 lead into second-half stoppage time.

Forest were awarded a penalty in the first minute of added time, and despite Walton pulling off a fine save from Lewis Grabben’s spot-kick, Hillal Soudani scored from the rebound to make it 2-2.

Sanchez and Forest Green Rovers were also denied victory in the first minute of stoppage time, after the ten-man Green Army had taken the lead through Christian Doidge.

Albion’s Spanish shot-stopper saved well from Danny Mayor in the closing stages, but Will Aimson followed up to poke home and secure a share of the spoils for Bury at Gigg Lane.

Steven Alzate came off the bench in the 54th minute to help Swindon Town to a 3-2 victory against Tranmere Rovers at the County Ground, as the Robins climbed to sixth in the Sky Bet League Two table.

Alzate laid on the assist for Marc Richards six minutes after coming on as a substitute, and Joe Romanski fired the winning goal in the 73rd minute to seal all three points.

Wrexham continued their impressive start to the season, as Jordan Maguire-Drew’s loan club beat Eastleigh 3-1 away from home to top the Vanarama National League after five games.

Maguire-Drew played 70 minutes in Wrexham’s comfortable victory, as the Dragons continued their unbeaten start to the season with another impressive performance.
