Jahanbakhsh Relishing Southampton Clash

By James Hilsum • 28 August 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh is relishing the prospect of making his full home debut in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup second round tie against Southampton at the Amex.

The Iranian is eagerly anticipating the all Premier League tie, and wants to return to winning ways against the Saints.

He said, “I want to start to make my full home debut in our stadium. That’s something I am really looking forward to and if the manager decides to pick me, then I am ready to do my best for the team.

“I am not used to facing a top-flight team so early in the cup. In Holland, I used to start playing against second or third division teams.

“I don’t know much about the cup here, but I know it’s important for the fans and the club. It’s another important game and hopefully we can go through.”

The winger explained how well he is settling into the squad, and believes that his decision to make summer switch from AZ Alkmaar is reaping dividends.

“I feel really good, I’m in a good group and am getting used to everyone. It’s been an excellent month for me, and I just need to build my fitness up.

“I am feeling much better every day, in terms of adapting to a new environment and a new situation.

“When I made the move, I thought all about the different elements to it, and I think it was the best step for me.

“I am really happy; we are a good collective group with many different nationalities. We have a good manager and good staff too.”
