The Carabao Cup draw.

Brighton & Hove Albion will be ball number four in the southern section for this evening’s Carabao Cup second-round draw, which takes place live on Sky Sports from 7pm.

The Seagulls will be drawn against one of 23 teams included in the southern section, ahead of this evening’s live game between Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday on Sky Sports.

Chris Hughton’s team exited the competition at the third-round stage last season, as AFC Bournemouth claimed an extra-time victory at the Vitality Stadium.

Albion will be joined by 12 other Premier League clubs entering the Carabao Cup at this stage, as well as Stoke City and Swansea City, who now compete in the second tier.

Here are a few numbers that Albion supporters may want to look out for in tonight’s draw:

Albion met Crystal Palace in the Emirates FA Cup last season, when Hughton’s side claimed a 2-1 victory, and the Croydon club will be ball number eight tonight.

Watford inflicted a 2-0 defeat on the Seagulls last Saturday, in the club’s opening game of the 2018/19 season, and the Hornets will be ball number 22 in this evening’s draw.

Hughton’s side were knocked out of the competition by AFC Bournemouth in 2017, and the Cherries will be ball number one this time around.

Jiri Skalak departed the Seagulls for the New Den earlier this month, and the Czech winger’s new club - Millwall - will be ball number 12 tonight.

Albion shared two 1-1 draws against Southampton last season, and Mark Hughes’s team will be number 20.

Cheltenham Town are the lowest-ranked team in the southern section for this evening’s draw, and the Robins will be ball number 7 after beating Colchester United on penalties in the first round.

Second-round ties will be played during the week commencing 27th August.
