The ever-popular Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is now three gameweeks in, and although it was defeat for Brighton & Hove Albion on their trip to Anfield, there were plenty of positive signs that suggest big FPL points for the Seagulls could be just around the corner.

Gameweek Review

Unfortunately, Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Liverpool didn’t produce many big point scorers from the Brighton squad. Most players scored two points, with some exceptions being the trio of players who came off the bench and Leon Balogun (£4.4m) who all claimed one.

The Albion player who racked up the most points was goalkeeper Mathew Ryan (£4.5m), who claimed two points for playing 60 minutes or more as well as two extra points for the six saves he made.

The result means that after three matches, Pascal Gross (£6.9m) remains the top-scoring Albion player with 12 points, followed by Shane Duffy (£4.5m) with ten.

Looking Ahead

Chris Hughton’s side host Fulham in their final match before the international break, and the fixture presents good opportunity for Brighton players to deliver plenty of FPL points.

Albion were excellent defensively against a strong Liverpool attack, and will be hopeful of a clean sheet against a Fulham side who scored just once in their opening two games.

The Cottagers did, however, find their scoring touch against Burnley at Craven Cottage on Sunday, as they fired four goals in a 4-2 victory over the Clarets.

But Albion have proved a difference force at the Amex, meaning Ryan and Duffy could be good players to select, especially at their bargain price of £4.5m. The pair are also strong candidates for bonus points.

In attack, Gross’s home record makes him an appealing option, with 13 of the 15 goals he was directly involved in last season coming at the Amex. The German continued this streak with his goal in the victory over Manchester United on the south coast.

Brighton Fan League

There is a new leader in the Brighton FPL Fan League, with Dan Payne’s ‘Groß Misconduct’ sitting top of the table on 274 points.

Payne received double points for captain Mohamed Salah, who scored against the Seagulls, while Aleksander Mitrovic fired a brace for Fulham, adding to clean sheets for Andrew Robertson and Kieran Trippier.

The Albion supporter sits 11 points ahead of second-placed Jon Clays, while Jolson Walker occupies third spot in the Brighton FPL Fan League.
