Ryan: We Pride Ourselves On Home Form

By Kieran Cleeves • 03 April 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Mathew Ryan believes this weekend’s game against Huddersfield Town is a perfect opportunity to restore their impressive home form, after a disappointing result at the Amex on Saturday.

The Seagulls were dealt their fourth home defeat of the season when Leicester City ran out 2-0 winners on the south coast, and Ryan is now focused on making an immediate return to winning ways against the Terriers.

He said, “We pride ourselves on making the Amex a fortress, and in this recent times we’ve been able to do that, so it was a disappointing one [v Leicester].

“Unfortunately it happens in football sometimes, where you’re the better side throughout the majority of the match - but at this level you’ve got to take your chances and you have to remain solid.

“We have an opportunity at home next week against an opponent that we’re fighting against to survive, so fingers crossed we can turn it around.”

Albion produced a promising display against the Foxes but goals from Vicente Iborra and Jamie Vardy sealed the points after Glenn Murray had a penalty saved in the second half.

Ryan, who has played every minute of Premier League football for Chris Hughton's team this season, took positives from Albion's performance and urged his team-mates to learn from Saturday's defeat.

“We’ve just got to keep doing what we do - we didn’t play bad against Leicester, we actually played well.

“We just missed the final bit of polish in putting the ball in the back of the net. If we had of got the first one, we probably would’ve got a second.

“It’s an afternoon that we’ve got to learn from, and we’ll come back and turn it around for next weekend.”
