U23 Preview: Swansea City V Albion

By Kieran Cleeves • 06 April 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s will look to secure their place in the semi-finals of the Premier League Cup when they take on Swansea City at the Landore Training Centre this evening, kick-off 7pm.

The Seagulls extended their unbeaten streak to 11 matches in all competitions with an impressive 3-0 victory over Everton in the last round of the Premier League Cup - which set up a repeat of last season’s quarter-final.

The Swans are the reigning champions of the competition after beating Reading 2-0 in the final last season - after the Welsh club progressed past Albion in the last eight with a narrow 1-0 victory on home soil.

Tonight’s opponents find themselves third in the Premier League 2 Division 1 table, following their promotion last season - and Simon Rusk’s team are looking to follow in their footsteps, as they continue their challenge for promotion in the Premier League 2 Division 2.

Albion are fourth in the league with just three matches remaining, and Rusk’s side are within touching distance of securing a play-off spot - but it’s all attention on the cup this evening, as they aim to reach the final four.

Goals from Jiri Skalak, Aaron Connolly and Viktor Gyokeres secured Albion’s victory over the Toffees on the south coast last time out, while the Swans beat Bristol City 4-2 at the Landore Training Centre.

Albion supporters can follow a live text blog from this evening’s game on the Match Centre, with a match report being uploaded after the game on BrightonandHoveAlbion.com.
