Beram Kayal on his 100th Albion appearance.

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Beram Kayal made his 100th senior appearance for the club in Saturday’s game against Leicester City at the Amex Stadium - and here’s a look back at the Israeli’s time on the south coast.

Kayal signed for the Seagulls from Celtic on January 23rd 2015, but had to wait until the beginning of February to make his debut for the club, as he came off the bench in the 85th minute against Nottingham Forest at the Amex.

Albion were losing 3-1 when the midfielder was introduced, and Kayal wasted no time in making himself known, as he headed home from Kazenga LuaLua’s cross to make it 3-2 just five minutes after coming on.

Kayal started the final 17 league matches of the season, forming a strong relationship with Dale Stephens in the centre of midfield - but the following season is when the pair began to flourish.

The Israeli’s second Albion goal came after just 14 seconds at the John Smith’s Stadium, when the Seagulls made a terrific start against Huddersfield Town but went on to draw the match 1-1.

Kayal ended the 2015/16 campaign with 43 league appearances, scoring twice and claiming seven assists - but the season ended in disappointment as he made a further two appearances in Albion's play-off semi-final defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Injury disrupted the midfielder’s 2016/17 season, after going off at half-time against Barnsley in September - but Kayal returned in January and scored on his first game back, against MK Dons in the Emirates FA Cup.

Kayal moved in and out of Chris Hughton’s team towards the end of the season, but still managed to finish the campaign with 20 league appearances to his name, as the Seagulls won promotion to the Premier League.

The former Celtic man started in five consecutive games across March and April, helping Albion to victories over Rotherham United, Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City, before playing 73 minutes in the promotion-clinching win against Wigan Athletic.

Kayal’s bad luck with injuries carried across into his first season in the Premier League, but his debut at this level came against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium in December.

Since then, Kayal has featured in another 11 Premier League matches for the Seagulls, while starting in all four of the club’s FA Cup games en route to their quarter-final defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Kayal reached 100 appearances for the club against the Foxes last weekend - and although the match ended in defeat, the midfielder produced a promising display in the centre of the park alongside Davy Propper and Pascal Gross.
