- Albion draw 1-1 with Leicester City at home
- Ryan Longman heads Albion in front
- Connor Tee levels for the Foxes
- The Seagulls travel to Newcastle United next Saturday
Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18s continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-1 draw against Leicester City at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre today.
Ryan Longman gave Albion the lead in the early stages of the game, but Connor Tee replied for the Foxes to secure a share of the spoils on the south coast.
Both teams had opened the season with a hat-trick of victories, and Ian Buckman’s team showed their confidence from the off, as Albion applied heavy pressure on the visitors.
It took Albion just seven minutes to break the deadlock, and it was Longman who finished off a well-worked move with a firm header, after a succession of crosses from Alex Cochrane and Isaac Hutchinson.
It was Cochrane and Hutchinson who were causing the Foxes trouble just after the break, but the latter fired over from his team-mate's accurate cross.
Teddy Hoare then found Longman with a defence-splitting pass, but the Albion goalscorer couldn't add another, as his shot was tipped over the crossbar by Leicester goalkeeper Rhys Davies.
Albion pushed for a second goal, but Leicester levelled after 72 minutes when Tee picked his spot and beat Tom McGill with a powerful strike.
Cochrane continued to create chances for the Seagulls, with his cross to the back post just missing Tariq Shihab, before Longman received the ball off the full-back and fired straight at Davies from a tight angle.
Both teams went in search of a winning goal in the closing stages, but neither could secure victory as Buckman’s under-18s had to settle for a point.
