Tomer Hemed celebrates.

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed was delighted to seize his chance and score the winner in a vital 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Amex yesterday.

The Israeli international scored the decisive goal of the game in the 51st minute, and highlighted the collective team effort in securing all three points.

He said, “All of us work hard and try to do the best we can. As a striker, sometimes you don’t get a lot of chances and you have to be ready for the one you get.

“I'm happy that I scored the goal and it helped the team get the three points. From the other side, the defence did well and I think we all had a good game and deserved the win.

“We put our bodies on the line for the three points, and it gives us a push for the next few games.”

Up next for Albion is an eye-catching match against Arsenal next week, and Hemed says the side can go into the match with confidence.

“First of all, we need to win our home games, as we know it's more difficult to get points away from home.

"This kind of game [Arsenal] is a new experience for us, and we'll try to do our best away from home. We'll work hard to do our best again.”
