Lucy Gillett signs for Albion.

Brighton & Hove Albion have signed a second goalkeeper in as many days, following the arrival of Lucy Gillett.

The shot-stopper joins after featuring for Watford in the 2016 FA Women’s Super League 2 season and in this year’s Spring Series.

Women’s assistant first-team manager Amy Merricks said, “It is brilliant that we’ve managed to strengthen our goalkeeping ranks even further with the signing of Lucy.

“Following the departures of Emma [Byrne] and Faye [Baker], it was vital to add an experienced player in this position, and Lucy certainly fits the bill.

“She is someone that we have been aware of for some time and it is a pleasure to welcome her to the club.”

Despite having English parents, Gillett grew up in New York and rose to prominence playing in the States for both Springfield College and Hofstra University.

Following the conclusion of her collegiate career at Springfield, she went out to Iceland and won the player of the season award at Knattspyrnufelagio Fram, before moving to Watford in March 2016.
