Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s kick off their defence of the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup this evening against East Preston at the Lashmar, kick-off 7.45pm.
The Seagulls won the competition with a 3-0 extra-time victory over Crawley Town, at the Amex last season, and Simon Rusk’s team begin their defence of thee trophy in the second round.
East Preston overcame Peacehaven & Telscombe with a 2-1 away victory in the first round of the knockout tournament, and Bob Paine’s team currently sit 16th in the Southern Combination Premier Division.
Albion sealed victories over Hailsham Town, Pagham, Crowborough Athletic and Eastbourne Borough on route to the final last season, with all games played at the opposition’s home grounds.
Rusk’s team head into the game after a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Hull City in the Premier League Cup, and will travel to Stoke City on Saturday as they return to Premier League 2 Division 2 action at the Bet365 Stadium.
