Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton is delighted that the club have secured the services of striker Tomer Hemed until the summer of 2019.
The Israeli forward has put pen to paper on the extension, confirmed on Thursday afternoon, and the manager was pleased to have secured his services for at least another year and a half.
He said, “We’re delighted two-fold with the news about Tomer’s new deal.
“We’re delighted for ourselves as a club obviously because he’s a player that has given us a lot over the past few seasons.
“He’s had a big influence on the team since he’s arrived and he’s given us the goals we needed to get promotion.”
Hemed scored 16 goals last term as the Seagulls were promoted to the top flight, and has already netted twice in the Premier League this term against West Brom and Newcastle United respectively.
Hughton highlighted that the forward had continued to impress amongst a competitive squad last season.
“Perhaps at times it was a little bit more difficult for him last season, but he’s always been in the frame and pushing to start.
“When you have players like that you want them to be tied down to your club.
“We’re also really delighted for him as a person too because he’s someone that wants to be here.
“It gives him some security and it’s a contract that he deserves."
