Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18s ended their season with a 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
A goal from David Ajiboye and a penalty from Daniel Mandroiu sealed all three points for Albion, before Tom Bexton’s late consolation strike for Wolves.
Hutchinson gave Albion the lead in the fifth minute after he latched onto Ajiboye’s cross with a close-range header that beat goalkeeper Harry Beasley.
The Seagulls had a chance to double their lead moments later when Luis Garcia found Ajiboye out wide, who skipped past a Wolves player before seeing his effort blocked inside the box.
Ajiboye was involved in the thick of the action again when he latched onto a pass from Archie Davies, and saw his subsequent shot blocked by the goalkeeper.
However, Brighton doubled their lead from the penalty spot with 50 minutes on the clock. Ajiboye was brought down inside the box and Mandroiu confidently scored from the spot.
Albion’s lead was halved with three minutes of normal time remaining through Bexton after Albion’s defence failed to deal with a corner, and the Wolves youngster scored from just inside the box.
