The Albion midfielder spoke at Sunday's promotion parade.

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Steve Sidwell insists his team-mates will come back strong after a well-earned rest this summer.

The 34-year-old was speaking at the club's promotion parade yesterday and has backed the side to perform well in the Premier League.

He said, “You come in every day trying to play at the top level, and now we get the chance to play on the best stage in the world.

“I’ve experienced it all before, but when you go to these big stadiums, you look at other players and their eyes light up straight away. It brings back some nice memories from when I was younger.

“The lads will go away now and have their holidays; they’ll relax with their families, but then pre-season will come around and we’ll go again.

"Hopefully we can do well, give a good account of ourselves and you never know what can happen next season."

Sidwell has emerged as a fans' favourite following his return to the club and has dedicated the promotion success to the Albion supporters.

He added, “This is what it’s all about. It’s for the fans and always has been for the fans. They came in their numbers to enjoy the parade, and they totally deserve it.

“This is what you work for day in, day out. We’ve had our celebrations as players, but this is for the fans."
