RAFFERTY'S EXCITEMENT AHEAD OF AMEX FIXTURE

19 May 2017

The Albion midfielder looks ahead to their final game of the season.

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Laura Rafferty expressed her excitement to play at the Amex on Sunday, when her team’s FA WSL Spring Series campaign concludes against Sheffield, kick-off 1pm.

The Seagulls will make their first appearance at the Amex this season, before their FA WSL 2 campaign gets underway in September, and Rafferty is focused on finishing the Spring Series with a victory on home soil.

She said, “I’m really excited, as I’m obviously a new player. I know the girls worked hard for promotion; being with the girls day in day out is amazing and I can’t wait to play at the Amex.

“It’s an amazing stadium where a lot of success has happened for our club, so it will be really good and hopefully we can finish off that success with another win.

“Sheffield are strong side and I know a few of the girls personally, but we won’t let that affect us, we’ll focus on our game and make sure we finish on a high.

“Especially when it’s on our home turf at the Amex; we’re going to make sure we do well and then look ahead to the new season.”

Albion’s women attended last Sunday’s promotion parade and took to the stage on Hove Lawns in front of thousands of fans, and Rafferty was delighted with the backing received from the club’s supporters.

“It was really special to be there, the fans were amazing towards us. We went down with them and up on stage, and they gave us an amazing response.

“We handed out a few of our leaflets and the fans were absolutely amazing. The response was really positive and I know a lot of them are going to head down to the Amex to watch us play on Sunday.”

Tickets are priced at £8 for adults and £4 for under-16s and over-65s. The club are also offering a family ticket for groups of two adults and two under-16s for just £20.
