The young shot-stopper has linked up with the League One side.

Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton has joined Southend United on an emergency loan for an initial seven-day period.

The 21-year-old is set to make his Shrimpers debut against Oldham Athletic on Saturday, and is also available for the following match against Bolton Wanderers in midweek.
In line with EFL rules, Southend have been independently certified as having no professional goalkeepers fit to play. If that situation were to continue, the League One club could apply to extend Walton’s loan for further periods of seven days.

It is Walton’s second loan move of the season after he made a total of 32 appearances for Nathan Jones’s Luton Town side before being recalled to the Amex.

The England under-21 international has also had loan spells at Plymouth Argyle and Bury since arriving at Albion in February 2013.
