BRUNO FRUSTRATED BY MISSED CHANCES

5 March 2017

The Albion skipper made no excuses for their 3-0 defeat.

“But we cannot just talk about the goal because we had a lot of chances, a lot of balls in the box and didn’t score. That’s football and we need to come back as strongly as possible.”

“I don’t know because I’ve not seen it yet on the TV. The linesman said that he didn’t see the touch but if he [Britt Assombalonga] touched it he would have given offside.

“From where I was it was difficult to see what happened with the first goal, because I was marking someone, but Dunky and Liam said the striker touched the ball and said it was a clear offside.

“I think we should’ve been better with the ball, but we didn’t show our quality up top as a team.

He said: “We’re really disappointed because we wanted to put in a good performance and we didn’t.

The Seagulls skipper insists that the fortuitous nature of the hosts’ opening goal should not be used as an excuse, and that the team had enough chances to leave the East Midlands with a share of the spoils. Brighton & Hove Albion captain Bruno was left to rue a number of missed opportunities, as the side lost 3-0 at Nottingham Forest yesterday.

The Spaniard insists that the pressure of a promotion push has not been a factor in the side’s mixed results of late, and is determined to rally his team-mates for the final 11 games of the season.

“We only think about ourselves. We are used to playing with pressure and we have shown a lot of times in the last few seasons that we like to play with pressure. We have to manage that.

“I’m always saying the same; we cannot rely on one player and everyone has to be involved. I’m trying my best to help everyone, but it’s a team job and we have to do it together.

Looking ahead to Tuesday's game at Rotherham he added, “We've have a few bad experiences there and it’s always a tough place to go. It’s not an easy team to beat and it’s going to be a really tough game.”
