New Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Gross says he is thrilled at the chance of fulfilling another childhood ambition of playing in the Premier League.

Gross arrives on the south coast with Bundesliga experience from his time at Ingolstadt, and hopes to make his top-flight debut in England against Manchester City on Saturday 12th August.

He said, “It’s my dream. I will train very hard all pre-season, and I hope the manager picks me to play in the first Premier League game at the stadium against Manchester City. I will work very hard to make sure I am in the best shape heading into this game.

“When you grow up in Germany, it’s a dream to play in the Bundesliga and once I did that, it was to play in the Premier League.

“In Germany, people also look at the Premier League as it’s one of the biggest leagues in the world, so I am very happy to play here and I can’t wait for my first game.”

The 26-year-old highlighted his main attributes, spoke about the prospect of playing alongside compatriot Uwe Huenemeier, and thanked Chris Hughton for giving him the chance to play at the club.

“I would say that I’m a number eight or number 10 in the central position in midfield. I can be offensive, and also work hard without the ball. My best attribute is I can create chances, that’s how I play.

“I am very happy to play alongside him [Huenemeier]. He’s a good player, who heads the ball well and has got good character. He’s got the German mentality, wants to win every game and is a fighter. I am very happy to play next to him.

“The manager is happy that I am here. He also gave me the feeling that he wants me in this team. All I can say is that I am very thankful for the offer and I want to give everything back.”
