Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Dale Stephens cannot wait to get going in the Premier League next season, and is ready to test himself against the very best.
Stephens believes he can adapt to the step-up in quality, and says the Crystal Palace fixture stands out for him in particular.
He said, “It will be good to test ourselves against the best players in the country and the world really. I'll make sure I'm ready for the test.
"I don't think it will be easy by any means but I am going into it feeling confident. I feel like I can hold my own. I'm excited to get started.
"Obviously the big teams are coming here but I'm looking forward to the Palace game. I've heard a lot about the game, and I've not played in one for Brighton yet.”
The midfielder admits that the team may have to adapt tactically next season, but says the side’s appetite for success will remain as strong as ever.
"We are not going to go into every game and play people off the park like we have done for a long time.
"It wouldn't be a surprise if the manager did put an extra midfielder in the team for certain games. It's just a normal approach to the big games.
"Whatever system we play, we have a squad and a team hungry to succeed at this level. It's certainly exciting times.”
The 27-year-old also believes Albion can replicate the likes of Burnley and Bournemouth by establishing themselves in the division, and how team spirit can count for a lot.
"You look at Burnley and Bournemouth, they've kept the core of the squad that got them there.
"Togetherness works. I think we'll do that as well. It will be nice to see everybody get a chance to play at this level."
