Brighton & Hove Albion winger Solly March reflected on the best year of his life after winning promotion and getting engaged.
The 22-year-old proposed to partner Amelia Goldman in Dubai, and is now heading into the new season with a real sense of enthusiasm.
He said, "I got engaged about a week after the season finished, so I didn't go to Vegas with the lads. I got a bit of stick for that but it was all good in the end. I was happy to get engaged.
"It was all planned for about six months, so it was the right thing at the right time and we're both happy.
"So far it's probably the best year of my life, playing for England under-21s, getting engaged and getting promotion, I couldn't have asked for anything better.
"Now we are getting down to the real business and working hard to prepare ourselves.”
March is enjoying his time with the rest of the squad in Austria and commented on the breathtaking surroundings, before looking ahead to the opening day clash with Manchester City.
"This place is unbelievable, the scenery and hotel. Training has been hard, which is what we want.
"It’s all about fitness, playing 90 minutes at an optimum level without taking a breather. That for me is a main aim, to be able to play 90 minutes full out.
“Manchester City is a great way to start, against one of the best teams in the league. To test yourself against some of the best players in the world is why you become a footballer.”
