Simon Rusk's side are playing in the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup tonight.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s take on Pagham in the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup third round at Nyetimber Lane this evening, kick-off 7.30pm.

After last week’s postponement due to a partly frozen pitch, Simon Rusk’s team will look to secure their progress and set up a quarter final tie against Crowborough Athletic.

The Seagulls overcame Hailsham Town in the last round with a 3-0 victory away from home, as a number of Albion’s under-18s featured for Rusk’s team, while Pagham beat Billingshurst and East Grinstead Town to reach this stage.

Rusk is expected to make numerous changes to the starting line-up that narrowly lost 2-1 to Nottingham Forest on Monday night, but insists the competition is one he takes very seriously.

He said, “It will be a very young side that we put out against Pagham, because we’ve come off a heavy load of fixtures, but it’s a competitive game and a competition that we want to do well in.

“It’s a tournament where we have to utilise the whole of our academy. There won’t be any senior players or many under-23 players, but a lot of the under-18s will be involved.

“It’s a great opportunity for them to play in a very competitive environment. It’s not a game to be taken lightly and we’ll certainly approach it in the most professional way that we can."
