Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18s recovered from a goal down to record an impressive 2-1 victory over Arsenal on Saturday.
Joe Willock put the Gunners in front with a penalty just short of the hour mark, before two goals in the space of five minutes from Danny Cashman and David Ajiboye secured all three points.
Arsenal’s Nathan Tella had the game’s first shot after finding himself in space just outside the area, and his deflected strike forced Thomas McGill into a fine save.
Aaron Connolly came close to giving Albion the lead, as he latched on to a misplaced pass, but his first-time effort went wide of the goal.
Arsenal went within a whisker of breaking the deadlock through Trae Coyle, whose free-kick was tipped away by McGill at the far-post.
The Seagulls won a corner a few minutes later, and should have gone in front when Danny Barker’s header went over the bar from just a few yards out.
The hosts won themselves a penalty just short of the hour mark when Luis Garcia got his legs tangled with Tella. Willock sent McGill the wrong way and placed it into the bottom-right corner to make it 1-0.
Tyrese Fornah played a great ball over the defence to Garcia on the right-hand side, and the latter took on his marker but had his shot saved by Arsenal keeper Alex Crean.
Just moments after being brought onto the pitch, Cashman equalised for the travelling side. Stefan Ljubicic made a good run on the right-hand side to latch onto Ajiboye’s through ball, and Cashman put the ball past the Arsenal keeper from the cross into the box.
Ajiboye then scored the winner in the 89th minute when Alex Cochrane's cross fell kindly to the forward, whose shot took a wicked deflection to send Crean the wrong way and complete a memorable comeback.
