The winners will meet Crowborough Athletic in the quarter finals.

Brighton & Hove Albion take on Pagham at Nyetimber Lane in the third round of the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup this evening, kick-off 7.30pm.

The Seagulls overcame Hailsham Town in the last round with a 3-0 victory away from home, as a number of Albion’s under-18s featured for Simon Rusk’s team.

Pagham progressed to the third round after beating Billingshurst and East Grinstead Town, and the winner of tonight’s game will face Crowborough Athletic in the quarter finals.

Albion’s under-23s sealed an impressive 3-0 win over West Ham United on Monday evening, which included two goals for 16-year-old striker Aaron Connolly.

Rusk is expected to make numerous changes to the starting line-up that beat the Hammers, but insists the Sussex Senior Cup is a competition he takes very seriously.

He said, “It will be a very young side that we put out against Pagham, because we’ve come off a heavy load of fixtures, but it’s a competitive game and a competition that we want to do well in.

“It’s a tournament where we have to utilise the whole of our academy. There won’t be any senior players or many under-23 players, but a lot of the under-18s will be involved.

“It’s a great opportunity for them to play in a very competitive environment. It’s not a game to be taken lightly and we’ll certainly approach it in the most professional way that we can.
