The Albion defender looks ahead to this afternoon's SSE Women's FA Cup tie.

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Sophie Perry cannot wait to take on table-topping Tottenham Hotspur in an SSE Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Cheshunt FC this afternoon, kick-off 2pm.

Albion play a Spurs side that sit top of the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division, and Perry is not underestimating the challenge that awaits.

She said: “It’s going to be a tough game. I believe Spurs are unbeaten in the league at the moment and their confidence will be high.

“There is always a bit of rivalry when we play there and we have really fond memories of the game last year, because we won the league at their place.

“I am sure they will want to get one over on us. We know they’re going to be strong, so we’re going to give it our all and hopefully progress into the next round of the cup.”

Perry expects the game to be a fascinating contest for the fans and highlighted the importance of progressing to the next round.

“Games with Tottenham are always very physical and a lot of strong challenges go in, which is due to the nature of both teams. We go in whole-heartedly and so do they.

“Having two passionate teams makes it an exciting game to watch and an exciting game to be involved in. I’m really looking forward to it.

“If we go through, it gives us more games we play, and the better it’s going to be for us as a squad.

“In the next round of the cup you could be drawn against WSL1 clubs, and we want to test ourselves against the very best.

“But we can’t look past Sunday’s game and you never know what could happen. It’s the magic of the FA Cup!”
