Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18 side have been drawn against Chelsea, Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers in Group B on this season’s Premier League Cup.

The Seagulls will take part in the newly-formed competition at under-18 level, which sees 24 teams split across six groups, each consisting of four teams.

Albion will play three games in the group stage, once against each of their opposition, either home or away.

The six group winners and two best runners-up will progress to the knockout stages of the competition, with one-off matches then deciding who the makes it to the final and wins the competition.

The draw means Ian Buckman’s team will come up against Chelsea four times this season, with the Blues also competing in the Under-18 Premier League South.

Albion’s under-16s will also take part in a mirrored version of the competition this season, and have been drawn against the same teams as the under-18s.
