As Brighton & Hove Albion went down 2-0 at Leicester City, it was a day of mixed fortunes for the club's on-loan players.

Standout result in the EFL was in League Two where Ben White helped Newport County to a clean sheet and a win 1-0 at Coventry City.

The Albion academy graduate has already earned good reviews for his early season form with the Welshmen, and the Sky Blues had a 100 per cent record ahead of the game.

Goalkeeper Christian Walton kept another clean sheet as Wigan Athletic won 2-0 to go top of League One. The Cornish giant has only conceded once this season in 270 minutes of league football.

Elsewhere in League Two, Jordan Maguire-Drew started on the right wing for Lincoln City, as they were unfortunate to go down 1-0 at Exeter City; while Tom Dallison was on the bench in Accrington Stanley's 2-1 win over Mansfield Town.

There were mixed results for Oli Norwood and Kazenga LuaLua in the Championship: Fulham and Norwood were edged out by a solitary goal by Sheffield Wednesday at Craven Cottage.

QPR and LuaLua recovered from an early goal against Hull City to win 2-1 at Loftus Road and move up to sixth place in the Championship.

In the National League South, Bailey Vose kept a clean sheet for Eastbourne Borough at Truro City; while Archie Davies played in Whitehawk's 1-0 defeat at Concord Rangers.
