Brighton & Hove Albion under-23s will take on Shoreham for the Sussex Community Shield at Culver Road tonight, kick-off 7.15pm.
The match sees the winners of the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup face the Southern Combination League Champions.
Simon Rusk’s team were victorious in last season’s Sussex Senior Cup competition, after beating Crawley Town 3-0 in the final at the Amex, with Shoreham bowing out in the quarter finals against Bognor Regis Town.
However, the Musselmen gained promotion to the Isthmian League Division One South after finishing top of their league last season, following a nine-point deduction for Haywards Heath Town - who fielded an eligible player.
The game is the penultimate pre-season fixture for Albion’s under-23 side, with a meeting against AFC Bournemouth taking place at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre a week later.
Summer signings Josh Kerr, Mathias Normann and Steven Alzate, could all feature in the side, as they look to stake their claims in the side ahead of the Premier League 2 Division 2 season.
Eastbourne Borough are the current holders of the Sussex Community Shield, after they beat Horsham 3-0 at the beginning of last season - however there will be a new name on the trophy this time around.
Entry prices for the Sussex Community Shield, in aid of Benevolent Fund, are as follows:
Adults (17+) - £6.00
Concessions (65+ and students with valid student ID card) - £3.00
Children (Under-16s) - £1.00
