The thoughts of everyone at Brighton & Hove Albion are with winger Kazenga LuaLua, after his father passed away yesterday.

Manager Chris Hughton tonight echoed the sentiments of his Queens Park Rangers counterpart Ian Holloway, who paid tribute to on-loan LuaLua following their win over Hull City.

The Albion boss said, "The thoughts of all of us at the club will be with Kazenga at this difficult time, and it shows a great deal of professionalism that he played today.

"This is a tight group of players, on and off the pitch, and Kazenga - although out on loan - is part of that group, so we all send out our condolences to him at this tough time."

Holloway, speaking after his side's 2-1 win said, "Our fans won’t know that LuaLua’s father passed away yesterday and he still wanted to play.

"It was tough out there for him and that’s why I took him off. He blamed himself for the goal but he didn't mean to do that. He’s a really good fella.

"On a personal level, I played the day I lost my dad and it’s not easy."
