Brighton & Hove Albion have strengthened their attacking ranks for the upcoming FA Women’s Super League 2 season by re-signing Fliss Gibbons.
The 23-year-old returns to the club after a memorable 2014/15 campaign, when she was named Women’s Player of the Year, scoring ten goals in 17 league appearances.
Women’s assistant first-team manager Amy Merricks said, “It is a pleasure to welcome Fliss back to the club.
“She is someone we all know very well after her previous time here, and is another exciting addition to the squad.
“Fliss has good experience playing in the FA Women’s Super League for Millwall, and will add a new dimension to our forward options.”
After leaving the Seagulls in 2015, Gibbons joined Millwall Lionesses, where she spent she spent just over a year, before re-joining Gillingham at the start of last season.
She broke a goalscoring record at the Kent club, scoring an incredible 33 goals in 19 appearances in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division One last season.
Meanwhile, Albion can confirm that midfielder Ellie Dorey has left the club by mutual consent.
Dorey was part of the squad that achieved promotion to the FA Women’s Super League in 2016, and played in all nine of the team’s FAWSL Spring Series fixtures this year.
