Hope Powell expects there to be a response from her players after last week's defeat to Bristol City.

Hope Powell expects a positive reaction from her side when Albion head to WSL leaders Chelsea today.

Powell described last Saturday's performance against bottom club Bristol City, when they lost 3-0, as 'unacceptable.'

They would appear to be up against it with Chelsea looking for a 15th straight home win and boasting an unbeaten record stretching back more than 30 games.

But as long as Albion show effort and commitment and are organised, their head coach will be happy irrespective of the result.

“Let's face it we're not expected to beat Chelsea, they are a very good side and are flying.

“I hate losing, I don't like the feeling of it but if you are going to lose you have to lose well. When we lost 1-0 at home to Chelsea earlier in the season we competed and had a real go, we were organised and did out jobs and were beaten by a good goal. And we played well and got a point from them last season.

Ellie Brazil shows her disappointment at the defeat to Bristol City.

“We didn't do those things against Bristol City, it was unacceptable. We're looking for three things: attitude, effort and application and if you produce all those you should do well. If you fall below those levels you will get punished.”

Although Albion will be without defenders Fliss Gibbons and Rebekah Stott, new signing Emma Koivisto is available after a protracted process to secure her work permit and international clearance.

“I'm looking forward to seeing what Emma can bring,” said Powell. “She is a good athlete, who can play on both sides of the pitch. It's been a long process to get her cleared but she will give us another option.”
