Brighton and Hove Albion’s under-23s earned another point, as they drew 1-1 with Norwich City at the Stadium this evening.

Elvis Manu opened the scoring with a close-range finish, but Sergi Canos levelled the contest before the break, with neither side able to secure all three points in the second half.

Simon Rusk included three first-team players in the starting line-up, with Solly March, Rohan Ince and Manu all featuring for the Seagulls.

Both teams enjoyed spells of possession inside the opening quarter, with Carlton Morris lifting a shot over the crossbar from close range, before Jesse Starkey dragged an effort wide of the target up the other end.

Canos played a neat one-two with Todd Cantwell before pulling the trigger, but the winger’s effort sailed wide of Robert Sanchez’s right-hand upright.

Albion made the most of their first clear-cut opportunity and broke the deadlock in the 27th minute, with Manu tapping in from close range from George Cox’s low-driven cross, following a positive run from Starkey.

The visitors came close to levelling the game moments later, when Dialling Jaiyesimi flicked the ball past an onrushing Sanchez, but the winger’s effort dropped narrowly wide.

But the Canaries made no mistake with their next opportunity, as Canos connected with a clever flick at the front post from Cantwell’s corner, restoring parity to the scoreline after 37 minutes.

Jayson Molumby then showed great commitment to win the ball and drive towards goal, but the midfielder’s firm effort from 20 yards rolled wide.

Soon after the restart, Manu was presented a glorious chance to score his second of the game and put Albion back in front, but the striker’s close-range effort was heroically saved on the line by Norwich goalkeeper Ben Killip.

Norwich's goalscorer Canos continued to look a threat and had two chances in quick succession, with Sanchez racing out to deny the winger, before his following effort rose over the crossbar.

Albion found themselves weathering a storm of pressure, as Michael Turner headed over from Canos’s corner, before Tyler Hornby-Forbes did well to block a fierce drive from distance by Morris.

Rusk introduced Henrik Bjordal and Joe Ward for Molumby and Starkey shortly after the hour mark, as the Seagulls went in search of a second goal.

Bjordal held up the ball and passed inside for Will Collar, but the Albion skipper’s low-driven effort from 25 yards rolled agonisingly wide of Killip’s right-hand post.

Both teams pressed for a late winner but couldn’t swing the match in their favour, as Albion shared the spoils with the Canaries.
