The independent opticians are the club's official eye care partner.
Independent opticians, Eyesite, are proud to be the official eye care partner for Brighton & Hove Albion.
The company, which has established practices in Brighton and five other locations across the south-east, has been looking after its customers for over 20 years.
They pride themselves on combining the latest clinical technology with a fantastic range of designer frames and sunglasses. Their friendly and knowledgeable staff provide a tailored and personal service to all customers, adhering to their mantra of innovation, design and clinical excellence.
Eyesite director and sports vision specialist, Jim Green, recently spent two days with Albion’s first-team players, assessing their vision to determine if they had any visual requirements that could enhance their game.
With Eyesite’s focus being on clinical excellence, they were delighted to be able to offer their sports vision screening service to all 25 members of the club’s first-team squad.
Mr Green was able to refer those players that may benefit from visual correction for an introductory advanced gold eye exam with an experienced optometrist.
This extremely thorough exam includes the use of optical coherence tomography [OCT] and optomap. This offers a high-definition cross-sectional image of the back of the eye and a digital scan of the retina.
The exam thoroughly checks the health of the eye, and enhances the ability to detect early signs of disease and health issues including: heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and strokes.

Adam Brett, Head of Medical Services for Brighton & Hove Albion says, “Medical, health and wellbeing assessment is paramount in our professional player screening services which we perform throughout the year.
"These assessment windows allow us to identify any possible areas to assist and aid athletic development and performance optimisation for the squad. Having Eyesite on board allows us to explore previously untapped avenues, for example vision alterations for night v day games, and assists us in player education around good eye health during the summer months.”
Whilst with the players, Mr Green was also able to discuss the importance of UV and blue light protection, along with the benefits of sunglasses and sports eyewear.
He said, “Offering exceptional customer service is the heart of Eyesite’s ethos, so I was delighted that I had this opportunity to extend our service into the community by working with the team.”
