Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18s lost 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Samuel Shashoua’s brace and a goal each from Dylan Duncan and Japhet Tanganga secured the North London club all three points.

Albion started the match well, as Isaac Hutchinson made a great solo run, before his powerful strike was blocked.

Then against the run of play, Kazaiah Sterling fed a pass through to Duncan, who put the hosts 1-0 up with a low strike from 12 yards out.

Sterling could have doubled Albion’s advantage when his powerful header produced a fine save from Bailey Vose, but Spurs did get their second through Shashoua.

The attacking midfielder showed some neat footwork before curling a shot past Vose from just outside the box.

Albion had a chance to get back into the match, but Hutchinson was denied by a Tanganga’s superb defensive challenge.
Tanganga made it 3-0 with four minutes left of the first-half, as he rose highest in the box to head home Shashoua’s cross.

Both teams had decent chances to get an early goal in the second-half, but Spurs keeper Alfie Whiteman was troubled the most and was forced to make two big saves.

Firstly, to keep out Alex Cochrane’s strike and then Aaron Connolly tested him at the near post a few moments later.

Substitute Stefan Ljubicic had a golden opportunity to net a consolation goal for the Seagulls, but he volleyed over from Aaron Connolly’s cross.

Spurs had a few chances to make it 5-0 towards the end of the match, but Albion defended well to keep the deficit at four.
