SIX NEW PLACES TO GO

27 June 2016

Albion will be making a number of new trips this season.

Brighton & Hove Albion head into the 2016/17 season with six different grounds to visit in the new campaign.

A mouth-watering fixture at Newcastle United's St James’ Park awaits on 27th August, in what will be Albion’s first visit to Tyneside since March 1992.

Mark Gall scored in a 1-0 win for Brighton and the side will be aiming to extend an impressive run of six games without defeat against the Magpies.

Albion visit the Pirelli Stadium, Burton, for only the second time in the club’s history on 17th September, and the Seagulls will hope to repeat their 3-0 victory over the Brewers in a League Cup tie back in September 2014.

A trip to the DW Stadium awaits on 22nd October, when Albion do battle with reigning League One champions, Wigan Athletic.

There have been mixed fortunes for Brighton against the Latics, with a 1-0 win in November 2013 sandwiched between 2-1 and 3-0 defeats in April 2015 and August 2004 respectively.

A first trip to Barnsley's Oakwell in just over three years follows in February 2017 and Hughton’s men will hope to end a run of four games without an away victory over the Tykes since a 2-1 win back in August 1991.

Albion's penultimate away game of the season is against Norwich City on 22nd April.

The Seagulls are without a win in four visits to Carrow Road, the last victory a 1-0 win back in December 2002.

But Albion certainly played their part in scintillating 3-3 draw between the two clubs back in November 2014, and were only denied all three points thanks to Gary Hooper’s 85th-minute equaliser.

A first trip to Villa Park in over seven years awaits on the final day of the season, as Chris Hughton’s men face relegated Aston Villa.

Brighton will renew their acquaintances with new Villa’s new signing, Tommy Elphick, who coincidentally scored for the Seagulls in a 3-2 FA Cup defeat to the West Midlands side in January 2010.
