The Frenchman is heading into the new season with even more determination.
Anthony Knockaert feels he and his Brighton & Hove Albion team-mates have an even greater appetite for success this season, after they narrowly missed out on promotion last term.
The Frenchman is more than confident of replicating another challenge near the top of the Championship, and believes the togetherness within the squad can take the club to new heights.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “I’m very excited to start the season and I think the ambition will be exactly the same.
“We just need to carry on with what we did last year. We need to be stronger and that’s going to be key if we want to succeed, and we’ve got the quality too.
“We’re hungrier and have even more determination now. It wasn’t easy to accept that we didn’t go up last year after the season we had, and we deserved a lot better.
“We played really well in the play-offs and were so unlucky with injuries and the red card against Middlesbrough.
“We had good reason to be disappointed, but that’s football and we need to come back and keep the same team spirit, which has been unbelievable.
“I’ve not experienced anything like this since I started playing football. We need to keep working and everything will be alright.”

Knockaert is now looking forward to going away with his team-mates to an overseas training camp and stressed the need to slowly build up to full match fitness.
“We’re going to have six weeks before the first game of the season and the most important thing is to be ready.
“Every player is different; some will get ready straight away, some may need more time. But as long as we’re all ready to go from the first game, I think everyone will be fit.
“We don’t want to burn ourselves out in the first week because we don’t want any injuries. Everyone knows their own bodies need and this is the most important thing.
“We’re going on a training camp on Sunday, which is going to be good for team spirit, as well as our fitness to make sure we’re ready for the new season.”
