KNOCKAERT ATTRACTED BY ALBION'S AMBITION

8 January 2016

New Brighton & Hove Albion signing Anthony Knockaert feels his new club has what it takes to win promotion, and it was Albion's ambition which attracted him to return to England and the Championship.

The French winger was a key player as Leicester City won promotion to the Premier League, as winners of the Championship in 2013/14.

He said, "At Leicester, in the second half of the season, we worked very hard and every game was like a final for us. This is how we approached things on the pitch and we gave everything in every game.

"That is the key if you want to go up from the Championship. You have to give everything, in every game and I think that we have the quality here to go up and do the job of getting promotion.

"I'm very happy to sign for this club. My agent called me a few days ago and said there was interest from Brighton. I spoke with him about the ambition of the club and the things they are doing here. I wanted to be part of this team and try to help them to develop.

"The ambition was the first reason why I wanted to join this club. I think the ambition here is amazing and it was what interested me."

Knockaert says winning promotion to the Premier League with Leicester City is his career highlight to date, adding, "Leicester has been the best moment of my career. I am still young so I have got some more to come.

"It was an amazing time there. I always enjoyed playing for Leicester and all of the people there were really nice to me and the fans were unbelievable.

"That is also the reason why I came back to England. I love the English mentality and all the people are very nice. I am very happy to be back in England.

"Of course, it's crazy because you play every three days and that's what I like, playing football. When you play football every three days, it's something special and I’m very happy to be back and I'm excited now to meet the new fans."
