THE MONTH AHEAD: DECEMBER

1 December 2016

Albion face six games in the final month of 2016.

Brighton & Hove Albion go into the festive period in excellent form, having extended their unbeaten league run to 12 matches.

The Seagulls head into the final month of the year in second place and just two points adrift of league leaders Newcastle United at the summit of the Sky Bet Championship.

Albion begin December with an away match against Cardiff City on Saturday 3rd December, kick-off 3pm. Chris Hughton’s men will be eager to erase the memories of last season’s visit to the Welsh capital, where they suffered a 4-1 defeat back in February.

Brighton host Leeds United six days later, in what will be the first of three Albion games to be shown live on Sky Sports this December.

A total of 17 goals have been scored in the five meetings between the two clubs at the Amex, including a 4-0 Brighton victory back in February.

Hughton’s men then make the long journey north to face Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday 13th December, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Seagulls are unbeaten in their last four trips to Ewood Park, winning 1-0 on their previous two visits. The two sides also played out a cracking 3-3 draw in this sequence of games back in April 2014.

High-flying Birmingham City are next on the agenda at St Andrew's four days later, in a game also set to be shown live on Sky Sports, kick-off 5.30pm.

Defensive duo Connor Goldson and Lewis Dunk were on target in a 2-1 win for the Seagulls back in April.

It’s back to the Amex on Tuesday 27th December for a lunchtime clash with Queens Park Rangers, kick-off 12.30pm, which will also be broadcast by the Sky Sports cameras.

Anthony Knockaert’s brace, and a goal each from Jiri Skalak and Goldson secured an emphatic 4-0 victory back in April.

The month ends with another match with Cardiff City at the Amex on Friday 30th December, kick-off 7.45pm. The two teams played out a 1-1 draw back in October 2015.
