SIDWELL'S STRIKE NOMINATED FOR NOVEMBER AWARD

10 December 2016

The Albion midfielder has been recognised for his brilliant goal against Bristol City.

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Steve Sidwell has been nominated for November’s Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month Award.

The 33-year-old has been recognised for his superb 50-yard strike in Albion’s 2-0 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Sidwell spotted Robins goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell off his line and surprised the entire stadium, and all watching live on Sky Sports, when his audacious effort found the back of the net.

The goal was also memorable for its celebration, as Albion’s players raced over to the sideline and raised Anthony Knockaert’s shirt in memory of his father.

Sidwell faces competition from Darren Bent, who scored a sublime volley against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the same weekend, and Fernando Forestieri, who finished off a flowing move for Sheffield Wednesday at Craven Cottage.

Albion fans can vote for Sidwell’s stunning goal here, after the poll opened at 6am on Saturday and will close on Tuesday 13th December. The winning goal will be revealed on Friday 16th December.
