The former Albion midfielder will take interim charge ahead of the Spring Series.
Brighton & Hove Albion have appointed George Parris as first-team women’s manager for the upcoming FA Women’s Super (FAWSL) League Spring Series.
The 52-year-old former Albion midfielder has agreed to continue as interim manager for the 2017 FA WSL Spring Series, while the club continues to search for a permanent first-team manager.
Parris will also continue his current role as the Regional Talent Club Technical Director, overseeing the development pathway of the women’s and girls’ programme.
On his continuation as interim manager, Parris said, “It’s funny how it materialised, the club has gone through the process of looking for a new manager and continue to do so, and nothing has been decided on that front yet.
“They asked me if I would like to take it in the interim of the Spring Series, and I was more than happy to accept that.
“It’s going to be a challenge that I am looking forward to; the FA WSL Spring Series gives us a chance to see where we are against other sides in the top tier of women’s football, especially having done so well last season and gaining promotion.
“I’ll be meeting with the players over the coming weeks, just to gather all of their thoughts and get everyone together, then we will have the Christmas break before we get back into the seriousness of pre-season.
“I will be looking to continue the momentum of on how we finished last season. We have the same group of players and I believe that we will hit the ground running."

In addition to Parris’s continuation, Amy Merricks will also take the post of assistant first-team manager on a permanent basis.
Parris added, “I worked alongside Amy in the lead up to the play-offs last season; she is a fabulous coach who works hard and has a great knowledge of the game.
“Amy is a great appointment for the club, and joins from our development squad having led them to promotion last year and also the league title.”
