Adam Webster was named Man of the Match in the win at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Graham Potter wants Adam Webster to continue his fine form when Albion take on Burnley this afternoon.

The head coach was very impressed by the 26-year-old's performance at Liverpool, and there has been speculation in the national media that he might get an England call-up.

Potter said, “It's up to Gareth Southgate to decide that, but we're delighted with him. He's taken some steps but there's a lot still for him to do which is exciting.

“He's not at the maximum, but I thought his performance at Liverpool was sensational. He defended the box really well, he was brave on the ball and made some important challenges and tackles. It was a first class centre-back performance.

“We're fortunate that we have got those three [Ben White, Adam Webster and Lewis Dunk], Dan Burn provides competition and cover and he is also in that mix, so we're strong in that area.

“They're all slightly different in terms of what they bring, but Adam's got some fantastic attributes and he wants to perform well for the team. We're delighted with him.”

Potter's Burnley press conference

While Albion's win over the champions rightly received plenty of praise, Potter laughed when it was suggested they could beat anyone having defeated the Reds.

“I wish it was like that! Unfortunately I know football too well, you have to start again in every game.

“We face another opponent today and for lots of different reasons Burnley are going to be a huge challenge for us.

“They've got a real clarity about what they’re trying to achieve and will make it difficult for us. We have huge respect for Sean Dyche and the fantastic job that he has done.”
