HUGHTON AND LUALUA UP FOR AWARDS

3 September 2015

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton and current Albion top scorer Kazenga LuaLua are both in the running for August’s Football League Manager and Player of the Month Awards respectively.

Hughton is in contention to claim the August Manager of the Month award after steering the Seagulls to the top of the Championship with an unbeaten start to the league season.

Albion currently lie in first place after five games having amassed 13 points following wins over Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham and Ipswich Town, plus a draw away at Huddersfield Town.

The Seagulls sit three points ahead of second placed Hull City and have been helped to their lofty position by the form of winger LuaLua, who has struck three league goals already this campaign.

LuaLua hit winning goals against Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers, scored a late winner in the League Cup first-round win over Southend, won the last-gasp penalty which secured all three points at Fulham.

He also scored the opening goal at Ipswich, and then had a hand in Albion’s second and third goals in the 3-2 win at Portman Road.

LuaLua and Hughton will find out if they have been victorious on Friday 4th September.

Hughton faces competition from Hull's Steve Bruce, Ipswich's Mick McCarthy and QPR's Chris Ramsey who has overseen three consecutive victories.

LuaLua is up against Ipswich's Ryan Fraser, who has scored two and made three goals in August; Birmingham City's Stephen Gleeson, who has also hit the net twice; and Burnley's Michael Keane, the centre-back has already headed three goals this season.
