The Seagulls fought back to 3-3 after being 3-1 down within the first half an hour, with Cox striking the equaliser late on.
Albion made a perfect start when Jordan Maguire-Drew headed home Thomas Byrne’s cross, but the lead lasted less than two minutes as Tyreke Johnson rifled home for the hosts.
Thomas O’Connor’s header made it 2-1 to the Saints on ten minutes and before the 30-minute mark another corner led to another goal for Southampton, with Harley Willard hooking home.

3-1 down and matters could have been bleaker for Albion when Olufela Olomola rounded the Bailey Vose, however he could only find the post with his finish.
Olomola was then guilty of wasting another fine chance moments later, as he skied over the bar from close range.
The Saints were two goals to the good at the break but the Seagulls regrouped after the interval and Maguire-Drew volleyed in his and Albion’s second to reduce the deficit on 56 minutes.
With time ticking away, an off-the-ball incident saw Alfie Jones sent off for the hosts, and the resulting free kick was expertly directed into the bottom corner by Cox to complete the comeback.
