- The Seagulls host Reading on Saturday
Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18 coach Ian Buckman said his side left themselves with an uphill task following a 3-1 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday.
The Seagulls were 3-0 down at the break thanks to goals from Admiral Muskwe, Toby Fura and Josh Eppiah, a result which leaves the side tenth in the table.
Buckman said, “It was a difficult game in difficult conditions. There was an extremely strong wind straight down the pitch which caused both goalkeepers a lot of problems.
“We did quite well to break forward and created a lot of chances. We did concede against the wind, which was difficult and we ended up being 3-0 down at half time. That left us with too much to do in the second period.
“Leicester are a strong side and they defended very well in the second half. We perhaps didn’t put them under enough pressure after half time to win the game.”

The coach praised the quality of Isaac Hutchinson's consolation goal for the Albion, but admitted that Leicester’s greater experience ultimately told on the day.
“Isaac Hutchinson reacted quickest to a second ball into the box and finished well. It was just a little bit too late in the day for us, but was still a good finish.
“Leicester are a strong side and were a lot older than us. They had a lot of second years playing and we only had one second year out on the pitch at the end of the game.
“They were strong physically, but they also had a great team ethic and worked very hard to defend their goal in the second period.
“We are still light. Robert Sanchez and George Cox were our only second years available at the weekend due to injuries and illness. A lot of the under-16s are stepping up, like Hamish Morrison and Sam Rolf.
“Isaac came off the bench as well. We are still very young, but that does gives opportunities to some of the younger boys to get that experience.”
