MANAGERS' VIEWS: HUGHTON AND CARVALHAL

4 November 2015

CHRIS HUGHTON was pleased to see his side go a club record 16 games unbeaten against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night and hailed his side’s resoluteness after picking up a hard-fought point.

The Albion manager is delighted that his side are continuously picking up results and feels that there is plenty of confidence in his squad.

He said, “We’re on an unbeaten run, which is great for the team and great for morale.

“We've had some good performances this season and managed to pick up results when we haven't played at our best.

“I can’t fault the effort that the players are giving. If you said to me that we would be in this position at the start of the season, then I would have been delighted.”

Hughton is confident that Sheffield Wednesday have what it takes to challenge for a place in the upper echelons of the Championship and feels that the table is starting to take shape.

“They’re capable of competing. When you look at the bench, you can see that their manager has changed the team around a few times and still managed to get results.

“He has certainly got some good options. If you look at the table at the moment, nearly all of the teams you fancy to do well are in favourable positions.”

CARLOS CARVALHAL felt that Brighton & Hove Albion and Sheffield Wednesday cancelled each other out at Hillsborough on Tuesday night.

The result extended Albion’s unbeaten run to the season, while Wednesday are also now undefeated in their last 11 games in all competitions.

He told swfc.co.uk, “Both teams were very strong and a draw was a fair result.

“Brighton started better than us, but in the second half I feel we were the better side as we fought right until the end.

“I think it’s important that we keep getting results against the top teams in the division, so even thought we played to win, I will take the one point.”

"Eleven games is very good, especially when we have played Arsenal in between league matches.

“I had a similar run when I managed Vitória Setúbal and I look back to that time when we are going unbeaten now.

“We are in a good way and are looking very strong against good teams, but all we can focus on is the next game against Charlton.”
