Watch the above video to revisit how Brighton & Hove Albion successfully negotiated their way to the FA Cup Final 32 years ago.

In 1983 the Seagulls may have been struggling in the league but Jimmy Melia’s men went on a famous cup run beating: Newcastle United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday, on their way to the final.

And, in the cup’s showpiece event, the Seagulls almost caused a major shock when, with the game poised at 2-2, Gordon Smith saw a late chance saved to deny Albion a famous win over Manchester United.

Sadly for the Seagulls, Man United proved too strong in the replay winning 4-0 but, despite the disappointment, it proved to be an incredible journey that is firmly held in the memory of many Brighton fans.
