Brighton & Hove Albion women defender Sophie Perry is currently away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland after being selected for their Istria Cup squad.
The 12-team tournament takes place in Croatia, and Ireland have been placed in Group A alongside Slovakia, Austria and Hungary.
Perry played the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Hungary on Wednesday and has been included in the squad to face Slovakia in Umag today, kick-off 10:30am.
In a video interview with the FAI website she said, “It’s a new competition for us, so there will be some new challenges and everyone is really excited.
“They’ll all be tough games; we played Slovakia twice last year and they were both hard games.
“We beat them in both of those games, but it will still be very difficult and we know what we’re going to get from them.”
The team will then face Austria in their final group match on Monday 9th March, kick-off 1pm, before the overall tournament winners are determined via a series of play-off matches between all three groups.
