FC Meyrin, based in Meyrin, in the district of Geneva, were formed in 1914 and gained promotion to the third tier of Swiss football in 1995.
They have since had two spells in the second tier, winning promotion in 1996 and 2003, but have spent the past nine years playing in level three.

However, Carlos Alves’s side finished 13th of 14 teams last season, winning just eight of their 26 games, and were relegated along with basement side Monthey.
The most famous players to wear the FC Meyrin shirt include ex-Swiss international stars Patrick Muller and Johann Vogel, David Eto’o – brother of Samuel – and current Switzerland squad member François Moubandje.
They play at the Stade des Arberes, which has a capacity of 2,018.
