HEMED: ENGLAND IS NUMBER ONE FOR FOOTBALL

25 June 2015

New Brighton & Hove Albion signing Tamer Hemed says that England is the top place to play football.

The striker, who signed a three-year deal with the Seagulls yesterday, confessed playing in England was a life-long dream he has now fulfilled, and that signing for the Seagulls was a huge privilege.

He told seagulls.co.uk, “England for me is the best place to play football for me. It was a dream for me to come here and play in English football.

“Everyone knows about London and how nice it is to visit, so it will be nice to go and see other places in England but first of all I am here to play football, and for me that is most important.

“It is a big honour for me to be here and to start my new challenge in English football here. I can say that this club is the best place for me to start my new chapter.

“I had a great time in Spain with some great moments. I really enjoyed the four years and it was a good experience, but now I am really excited to start my new challenge in English football.”

The Israeli also revealed that his international teammate and Albion midfielder Beram Kayal, is a close friend and that the former Celtic man encouraged him to join the Seagulls.

“Beram is a very good friend of mine, we play together in the national team and it will be very nice for me to play with him again at Brighton.

“We spoke before and he told me very good things about the club and the place, and I know that the club really wants to be promoted to the Premier League, so I am really excited to come here and give 100 per cent in every game to try and achieve promotion.”

Hemed was also drawn to Albion because of Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood’s long-term interest in him, and he believes that during the upcoming season he can really showcase his all-round abilities .

“I know the manager and the assistant coach and I know they wanted me in the past; for me it is a good feeling to know people like them want me and believe in my qualities so I am very excited to start working with them this season.

“Usually my goals are from inside the box but the people that know me know that I can do good things far from the area and create goals for others.

“I believe that this season all the people that don’t know about me will see good things, and I am waiting to play, to help the team succeed together and to make all the fans and the club happy at the end of the season.”
