Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-21s beat Ryman Premier League side Enfield Town 4-2 at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium tonight.
First-year scholar Jayson Mulomby, Ben Barclay, Joe Ward and an own-goal were enough to earn Simon Rusk’s side the victory.
There was end-to-end action almost straight from kick-off, with the hosts taking the lead inside four minutes. A corner eluded the Albion defence and the ball appeared to take a deflection before crossing the line.
The Seagulls equalised just three minutes later when a weaving run by Ward resulted in a dangerous ball across the box and an Enfield defender turned the ball into his own net under some pressure from Daniel Akindayini.

Ward was involved in the thick of the action again just moments later as his corner cannoned off the crossbar, before Albion took the lead thanks to Mulomby - the 16-year-old firing home off the post from 25 yards out in the 23rd minute.
Corey Whitely brought the hosts level in the 44th minute, in what was Enfield’s first real moment of quality of the half.
But it did not take long for the Seagulls to re-establish their lead after the break; Barclay reacted quickest when Jesse Starkey’s corner was spilt inside the box and he slotted home in the 50th minute.
Albion secured the victory a minute before the hour mark when Ward capitalised on a mistake by Jandir Da Cruz and clipped his shot into the bottom corner.
