IBORRA’S ALBION ADMIRATIONS

31 July 2015

Sevilla star Vicente Iborra has revealed how he grew up admiring two would-be Albion favourites from the other side of his home city, but he reckons it is another of the Seagulls’ imports from Spain who could threaten his club on Sunday.

Iborra will travel with Sevilla for fixtures at Watford and the Amex although he might not play a part due to injury, but knows just a bit about Brighton.

The 27-year-old said: “I’m from Valencia and I had ten years at Levante so obviously Vicente and Bruno were players I knew across the city at Valencia because we played against them.

“They are players of a high level. They did great things in Spain and I followed what they did in England.

“But I knew Tomer Hemed as well from playing against him when he was at Mallorca and Almeria.

“He has always scored goals. He is a striker who acts as a target man but he has also got good mobility, he is a clever player in the box and he gets goals. Above all, I think he brings lot of experience to Brighton.”

Iborra was happy to pledge his future to Sevilla, despite being strongly linked with West Brom this summer. He is also reported to have caught the eye of Barcelona boss Luis Enrique after upping his goals tally last term.

He added, “These reports mean you have done things well, they mean you have had a good season but my club is Sevilla. It’s the club I give everything to, where I am very settled and happy.

“Nothing has gone through my head other than staying here and doing well here.”

Iborra urged English supporters to turn out to see a side many will have enjoyed watching on television en route to European success last year.

“You will see a very attractive match and we know Brighton have had good seasons in recent years.

“You’ll see a Sevilla side with lots of new players but with a high quality squad and of course, you will be seeing the current Europa League champions.”
